FAQs

When you have an NDIS plan, it typically includes a specific allocation of funds for various support services based on your individual needs and goals.

The funding in your plan is tailored to help you achieve your personal goals and enhance your independence and participation in the community. The specific services covered by your plan may include in-home support, assistance with social and community activities, therapy sessions, specialised equipment or aids, and other supports as identified in your plan.

Additionally, some individuals may be eligible for Support Coordination, which is a service provided under the NDIS. Support Coordination aims to assist you in navigating and implementing your NDIS plan effectively. Support Coordinators can help you understand your plan, connect with service providers, manage your funding, and ensure that your supports are delivered as outlined in your plan.

It's important to review your NDIS plan thoroughly to understand the funding and services allocated to you. You can also discuss any questions or concerns with your Support Coordinator or contact the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) for further assistance.

One of the key roles of a Support Coordinator is to assist NDIS participants in developing the skills and confidence necessary to exercise Choice and Control over the management of their NDIS plan. Support Coordinators work closely with the participants to understand their individual goals, preferences, and needs.

By aligning the participant's goals with the available supports and funding within their NDIS plan, the Support Coordinator empowers the individual to make informed decisions about the services they receive and how they are managed. They provide guidance, information, and resources to help the participant explore all the possibilities and options available to them.

Through ongoing support and assistance, Support Coordinators help build the participant's skills and confidence in navigating the NDIS system, understanding their rights and entitlements, and actively participating in decision-making processes related to their plan. The ultimate aim is to empower individuals to lead a more self-determined and fulfilling life.

Indeed, Support Coordinators can provide valuable assistance throughout the NDIS plan review process. Prior to the review meeting, a Support Coordinator can prepare a Plan Review Report that outlines the services and supports arranged for the participant. This report can include assessment reports that demonstrate the progress made by the participant during the previous plan period. It may also include recommendations for future services based on the individual's evolving needs and goals.

They can help ensure that the participant's goals, achievements, and support needs are effectively communicated to the NDIS representative conducting the review. The Support Coordinator can also assist in explaining any challenges or changes in circumstances that may affect the participant's support requirements.

After the review meeting, the Support Coordinator continues to act as a point of contact for the participant and their NDIS-related inquiries.

A NDIS Plan Manager is a service provider who assists NDIS participants in managing the financial aspects of their NDIS plan. Plan Managers help participants with the financial administration and budgeting of their NDIS funds. Their primary role is to handle the financial transactions, claims, and payments related to the supports and services outlined in the participant's NDIS plan.
